JK's prominent doctor, columnist and educationist has expressed extreme grief over the loss of more than 30 lives in tragic accident that happened in Kishtawar this morning.

Talking to media sources Dr Tasaduk said , "It is very sad state of affairs that precious lives are lost on daily basis in tragic road accidents both on National Highway and other local urban and rural roads. This is the second consecutive tragic road accident after Mughal road accident that happened few days back."

"Road accidents are claiming more lives in J & K than the armed related conflict. I have been writing constantly on this issue and it needs serious attention.
Under Jammu & Kashmir State Road Safety Policy, the Government should increase its efforts to promote awareness about the various aspects of road safety, the social and economic implications of road accidents and what needs to be done to curb the rising menace of road accidents" He added.

He said that the Government should take appropriate measures to review standards pertaining to safety in the design of rural and urban roads and bring them in consonance with international best practices keeping in view Indian traffic conditions.

"There is need to create road safety knowledge and awareness amongst the population through education, training and publicity campaigns. Road safety education should focus on school children and college going students, while road safety publicity campaigns should be used to propagate good road safety practices among the community" he added
