Militant killed in Sopore; gunfight over

The Sopore gunfight has ended with the killing of militant on Saturday.

Police official confirmed to local news gathering agency GNS that militant was killed after a brief gunfight. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.

The identity of slain militant is yet to ascertained, he said.

Earlier security forces had received specific information about the militants presence in the local residential house following which the cordon and search was launched in the Hathlangoo village.

Mobile internet services has been suspended in Sopore town as a precautionary measure.
