Crime branch arrested Ex-Youth Congress leader for duping businesswoman of ₹10 Lakh

JAMMU : The Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police, on Tuesday, arrested former spokesperson of Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) and Youth Congress leader Sheikh Aamir Mushtaq in Jammu, in a case of forgery. A businesswoman from New Delhi into education consultancy had been allegedly duped of nearly ₹10 lakhs by the accused.
Additional SP of Crime Branch Mushtaq Choudhary said, “The accused Sheikh Aamir Mushtaq has been arrested in a case of forgery under Sections 420 RPC and 120-B, and investigations have begun.” The high-profile accused claims to be PYC spokesman in J&K and youth Congress leader on his Facebook and Twitter accounts.
However, the state Congress spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said, “He was PYC spokesperson in the previous team headed by then PYC president Pranav Shagotra, and is no more the PYC spokesman.”
According to sources, the businesswoman, who was into an education consultancy business in New Delhi and Punjab, was keen on starting her business in Kashmir as well. The victim had come across the accused, who showed interest in her business.
Besides providing a laptop, phones and other basic gadgets worth ₹2 lakhs to the accused, the victim had digitally transferred ₹9 lakh to his account to set up a cattle feed factory. After returning from abroad, the victim found that the accused had purchased a new car worth ₹10 lakhs and had no set-up for the factory ,” sources said.
